A side note that we are holding thumbs for our card printing machine, it should be up and running soon! We have ordered new parts and they are on the way from the USA Behind the scenes
We are not alone in our little corner of the world and, along with the neighbours, we have long been involved in trying to upgrade the Yacht Club area with particular emphasis on cleanliness, sustainability and safety. Meetings with SAPS, Metro and Ethekwini are ongoing and, while there is still much to be done, a few items have been checked off our lists so far. The City agrees that we would all like the Yacht Mole to be upgraded and we can all work together to create a clean and safe environment for families to enjoy. Issues already addressed:
Outstanding issues still under discussion:
As you can see, there is much going on behind the scenes to make the entire Yacht Mole area a safe and friendly place for families to enjoy. If you have any questions / queries / suggestion or you are able to assist or have contacts who can assist, please contact Meleney on [email protected] We also have daily restaurant meal specials! We have had a great season when it comes to Wednesday Night Racing, with just 3 more months to go before our sailors and race officials take a well deserved break!
Individual race results have all been released via Facebook and on the Keeler WhatsApp group, here’s a look at overall provisional “mid-season” results so far: CONCERT WITH A VIEW AT THE WATER’S EDGE
What a night! This past Friday, 14th February 2020, we tried something a little different. “Concert with a View at the Water’s Edge” was the promise, and we most certainly delivered! The Ndongeni Lawns were filled with picnic-goers, all eagerly awaiting the festivities of the evening. On the menu were a selection of scrumptious club favourites and a classic dessert and the kitchen had mouth watering aromas wafting through the Lowerdeck restaurant. Those who opted out of our home-cooked meal brought along their own picnics, many with a selection of classic South African concert snacks (BILTONG!) and others even brought along their own table decorations - perhaps next time we should have a little table deco contest?! Parable Fifteen and Zazz lit up the Ndongeni Lawns with their amazing performance and an incredible backdrop of the bay and harbour lights. They entertained with a selection of widely known covers, as well as some tantalising originals, leaving us wanting even more! A huge thank you goes out to Parable Fifteen, Zazz, October Sun Productions and we wish them all the best with The Vision Tour 2020 - definitely worth finding out where they’ll be playing near you! Thanks also go to all staff who worked that night and organised/ran the event - your efforts are greatly appreciated. It was a great evening with awesome people - definitely one to remember! Have a look at the Facebook event page to see more of what you missed. Would you join us for another event like this? Do you have any musician recommendations? Let us know! We also have daily restaurant meal specials! Follow our restaurants on Facebook for updates: @EatOutatRNYC
We, as vessel owners, have to pay a fee for having our vessels on the water.
You then receive a Harbour License Discs from Portnet. Even if your vessel is on the hard or trailer this is required. The costs are minimal and the Marina Office requires copies of these discs. I prefer a list of Crafts, owners and port disc numbers to be given to Marina Office to save on photocopying. To receive this disc the vessel owner must present a C.O.F or LGSC that is in date. (Keel and Motor boats) and complete the Disc Application form. Smaller vessels such as Hobie cats just need to complete the required form as they have to conform with the class requirements. Under 9m and less than 15 hp can collect a checklist from the office and complete their own survey. Anyone wanting their under 9m vessel to be surveyed can make an appointment with Gail of Gailforce Yachting who will carry out the survey out. She has been appointed Club Vessel Safety Officer. Members can either pay immediately or have their club account debited. This money HAS to be paid to the Port Office. We have had inspectors checking if your disc is up to date and vessel owners have been fined. All has to be submitted at the end of March or soon after. I hope this assists members and staff in keeping up to date with the process. More information can be acquired from Shaneé or Gail - Gail Dickerson |
