Results from the April Club Draw:
The great April storm left quite a shocking aftermath. Durban bay was left scattered with mounds of plastic and debris, an eyesore for all. The state of the bay was an eye opener for many, bringing along the realisation that something needs to be done about the litter and pollution taking over our waters.
On Saturday, 27th April, we experienced amazing team work at the clubhouse. With over 100 volunteers as well as a number of members, the bay and our lawns were restored to their former glory. The sun bearing down and the tide fighting back was no match for the determination and strong spirits of everyone involved. Organisations such as the Refilwe Matlotlo #GetInvolved Foundation, WildLands,WildOceans, Breathe, The Litterboom Project, 1st Port Natal Sea Scouts, the Spitfire Dragon Boat crew, Sea Rescue, and many more, lead to the clean-up being as successful as can be - with an astounding total of 4000kg of waste collected in our bay area alone. |
